The video below is an interview with Yukio Mishima, who talks about his work, life, post war Japan, and being a descendant of Samurai.
Yukio Mishima committed ritual suicide at the age of 45, leaving behind a plethora of literary pieces, that continue to be read even in the modern twenty first century. Today, Mishima is considered one of the greatest and most influential authors of 20th century Japan. Mishima's novels contain a unique style of writing, one that is strong, emotional, and captivating. Mishima died as matyr, trying to rejuvenate the feudal Japanese culture that had existed prior to World War II. Even his death itself is another part of his lasting legacy. He honorably committed seppuku, dying in the same way many of his samurai ancestors had. As an author, poet, actor, and playwright, Mishima will forever be immortalized by his work in the literary world. Mishima will be further remembered by a 1985 film Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters, that is based on Mishima's life and work.
