Life 伝

(January 14, 1925 - November 25, 1970)

Later Life: Post War 

  • In January of 1946, Mishima meets up with Yasunari Kawabata, an established Japanese author who later won the Nobel Prize in Literature. Kawabata guides Mishima forward, propelling him into the peak of his literary career.

  • In 1947, Yukio Mishima graduates from Tokyo Imperial University and goes to work for the Japanese Ministry of Finance. He resigns in 1948 and decides to be a full time writer.

  • 1955, Mishima starts bodybuilding schedule and works out to get himself an "ideal" body.

  • Mishima works on writing, and has some of his greatest works published, including Confessions of a Mask. He becomes successful and an eminent Japanese literary figure.

  • Yoko Sugiyama and Yukio Mishima are married in 1958.

  • Mishima continues working in literature and even becomes an actor in movies. He completes his final work The Sea of Fertility, a series consisting of four books, just before his ritual suicide in 1970.
